What’s your name and job title? 

My name is Andreas Kazantzidis and I am the Head of the Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics, University of Patras, Greece 

Tell us a few words about your background: 

I am a Physicist with a Master’s degree in “Environmental Physics” and a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences. Nowadays, I am full Professor in the Lab. 

What organisation do you work for? 

I work for the Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics, University of Patras 

What does your organisation do? 

We have extensive expertise on atmospheric sciences, meteorology, and climatology. Our work focuses on atmospheric forecasts, complex systems dynamics, management of extreme weather events and early warning systems. To meet these scopes, we use physically-based models, ground-based and satellite measurements, and artificial intelligence methods to study atmospheric and environmental parameters. 

What is your role in the PREVENT project? What are you currently working on? 

I am coordinating the activities on behalf of our organization across all Work Packages. This includes the development the pedagogical guide and teaching material as well as the participation in events like workshops or exhibitions of final products on new deep technologies and their contribution to the prevention of natural disasters. 

Why is being part of the PREVENT project important to you? 

It is very important to enhance existing capacities and develop in-depth know-how in the design and delivery of actions aiming to promote environmental and climate change awareness. Moreover, I expect to improve my digital and green-minded skills. 

How do you like to spend your free time?
