What’s your name and job title?
My name is Dimitrios Deligiannis. I am PhD Candidate at University of Western Macedonia and I have received a scholarship from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI).
Tell us a few words about your background:
I have a degree in Marketing and Advertising from the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, a degree in Business Administration from the Technological Educational Institute of Kozani, and Masters degrees in “E-Business and Digital Marketing” and in “Public Administration”. I was a senior officer in the banking sector for 18 years. Now I am involved in the education of Economics, and I am working on my PhD thesis “An empirical study of the influential factors of Adoption and Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the agricultural sector of the Region of Western Macedonia, during the transition period of the “Just Development Transition 2021-2027” ”

What does your organisation do?
Τhe Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) supports independent research (the systematic investigation generated by scientific curiosity) and young researchers through scholarships for doctoral candidates and research projects for Postdoctoral Fellows, Researchers and Faculty members.
The University of Western Macedonia emphasizes research and innovation, participating in national and European research programs. It has developed international partnerships with universities and research centers around the world, promoting student mobility, innovation and creativity. It is based in Kozani and has campuses in five cities in Western Macedonia: Kozani, Grevena, Kastoria, Florina and Ptolemaida. The new campus in Kozani is a modern campus with excellent infrastructure for students and staff.
What is your role in the PREVENT project? What are you currently working on?
My contribution to the Prevent project included the development of two three-hour Remote Sensing courses: one theoretical and one practical.
Why is being part of the PREVENT project important to you?
My PhD thesis is related to the digital transformation of the agricultural sector by investigating the factors of adoption and use of ICT technologies. The Prevent program enables new uses and applications for the prevention of natural disasters using ICT and is closely linked to the agricultural sector, as it directly affects it.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Free time is spent walking around the city and doing activities with my family and my two daughters.
