In our world the natural disasters are an everyday phenomenon and the climate crisis is effecting every part of our lives! The European project PREVENT is here to answer in this challenge, bringing together partners from different countries, fields and experiences with a common aim: the strengthening higher education as a shield against natural disasters.

The Dream of Prevent Project!

The prevent project is aspiring to create again a relationship between technology, education and climate  resilience. The main aim of the project is to embedding deep technologies like artificial inteliggence, microcontrollers, data analysis in the educational environment of universities. The project want to do that because we don’t want the mechanics to focus only on the theoretical part but to also implement their knowledge for the natural disaster prevention and management.  The group of aim are the university students and it gives tools for them to become active agents of change.

The Power of European partnership

This is one of the most powerful things about our project. Is that we have partners across the European union and some of them are educational centers, universities, organizations of innovation, bringing together different pedagogical approaches and technological experiences. As a result every partner is creating his good practices and also we can work together for some deliverables to have the best results.

Labs of education and innovation

Is not only the technology but also is the way that we are training our students. With Open Living Labs, Virtual Learning Labs and innovation workshops the students can actively participate in learning. These labs are not just theoretical but inside of them we can create real life scenarios to get the students in a position to do something if a natural disaster happens to let them learn things and be better for these scenarios. The people that is active to those programs can get knowledge of technologies like sensors, prediction algorithms that can help them to prevent any natural desaster, automatic alarm systems that can also be used for this scenario, helping foster a culture of technological readiness and social responsibility.

This is also related the gab between education and the labour market. The project wants to PREVENT that, and for that reason we are creating a pedalogical guide. This guide working as a tool for educator and for there the educators can ensure that the content of the lesson is practical and focus on the needs of the topic. So the students that are on the PREVENT project are also professionals at the same time.

Inclusion and Equality in Knowledge

The PREVENT project also is having an aim to give particular emphasis on strengthening women’s presence in areas where gender inequality remains strong. This can been done through encouragement and awareness-raising activities, it aims to break stereotypes and create a more equal and inclusive academic environment. For the project, innovation is not complete if it is not accessible at all. Student diversity is seen as an asset not a barrier.

Conclusion

PREVENT Project is only limit his aims as a simple educational experiment. Is a complete strategy and for example for how the international partnership can lead to social useful results. Is the receipt on how the technology is meeting the education and social sensitivity, solutions with real impact can be born.

In a world that demands new responses, PREVENT shows the way: a way of knowledge, cooperation and hope.
